Our Story
SARAH'S HOPE

Sarah's Hope Charitable and Educational Foundation, Inc. is in Lufkin, Texas, deep in the East Texas Piney Woods, 100 miles North of Houston, Texas. The Foundation is a 501 c(3) organization dedicated to the service, uplifting and empowerment of the Youth within Angelina County through the Arts.

Our Mission and Vision statements speak to our dedication in this community:

Mission Statement
Sarah's Hope Charitable and Educational Foundation, Inc. exists to give to the East Texas Community visual and performing arts and enrichment programming to unlock the potential of youth through education, empowerment and a legacy of excellence.

Vision Statement
Sarah's Hope Foundation envisions creative and confident youth who have a global outlook, who are academically well-prepared and who are equipped with life skills that will enable their upward mobility.
(Research from the National Endowments for the Arts has shown that children who participate in the arts are better prepared for future endeavors in their adult life and succeed in achieving goals towards higher education, as opposed to their counterparts.)

For fourteen years, Sarah's Hope has had two areas of concentration:

1. North Lufkin Children's Choir: This choir allows the children of the financially challenged community of Lufkin opportunities to perform in various venues around the country. Thus far they have sung at our City Hall Flag Day, community recognition of MLK Celebration, Juneteenth Celebration and in the rotunda of our Nation's Capital in Washington, DC. These young people have visited and toured colleges in Houston, Dallas, Tyler and Nacogdoches, Texas.

2. Dedication to the restoration of the "Old Masonic Hall" in the North Lufkin Community: This Hall is the last of original structures in the area. It was built in 1901. The architect was an African-American man with just a 3rd grade education. We have been awarded the recognition of a historical site by the Texas Historical Commission. Through our association with the Texas Historical Commission, one of the members of the Choir was invited to Austin for the Commission banquet where he was able to meet, ask questions and attend the presentation honoring NASA Astronauts. His excitement was infectious!

It is our intent to restore the building for use by the community. Other than churches there are no other buildings available for use for various activities in the North Lufkin area of town.

Sarah's Hope Charitable and Education Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to Youth. We encourage them through the arts, empower them through their cultural richness and direct them through a can-do-belief.
